Week 2: Meet Time Change!

We're flying into Week 2 like...

(Don't worry...that's Coach Harrison. He didn't hit the flags!)

Time Change for Wednesday’s Meet

With a high temp only in the 70s, we’ve decided to move up our meet time to a 4:30pm start. This will enable our swimmers to swim in the warmest part of the day. We’ve also decided jointly with Loch Lloyd (our opponents) to limit the meet to 400 entries per team (usually 500) and no IM events. This will shorten the meet and wrap it up before temps start to drop with sunset. We anticipate being done by 7:30pm.

Thank you for understanding this change – with the amount of times swimmers are in and out of the water during a meet, we did not want them to be cold and miserable.

If this changes anything about your swimming preferences, we’ve opened up meet entries again on our website and you may edit them until 11am tomorrow (Monday).

Wednesday Schedule

AM – practice as usual

3:40pm – Mills Farm Swimmers arrive for warm-up

4:30pm – meet begins

Swimmers should bring/wear:

  • Team Suit
  • Team Shirt for this year (orange)
  • Team Cap (optional, but must be our cap if wearing one)
  • Goggles (pack an extra pair, they always break at the worst times!)
  • Extra towels, blankets for warmth
  • Small bills for concessions

If there is rain/weather in the forecast, we will make a call on the meet by 2pm. Rainout dates are always the following day (Thursday).

We do have a couple of changes in seating areas for parents during the meet. The HOA agreed to open up some space for Mills Farm parents right above the pool area. This space is just outside the gates, but really the best view possible of the meet (and away from the crowded pool deck). Mills Farm parents should feel free to bring and set up chairs in either spectator area marked for Mills Farm.

If you can walk or carpool, it helps so much with parking!

Volunteer Sign-Up

Our volunteer sign-up for next Wednesday’s meet opens at 8pm this evening (Sunday) on our website. Arrival times for each job have been updated to reflect the earlier meet start time. If you can’t make it that early, no worries – there will be plenty of volunteer opportunities in the coming weeks. This sign-up will fill very quickly. Don't worry, there are plenty of jobs for everyone during the season!

Teen Night – Monday!

Our first teen night will be tomorrow night at the pool. For those new to teen night, it’s a practice followed by dinner and a show on our outdoor screen. For returning teens, we have a slightly different format this year. Because our teen group is so large, we divide it up into two shifts:

7:15-8:15: 13/14s practice (followed by dinner/movie)

8:15-9: 15-18 practice (followed by dinner/movie)

Dinner this week is from Cane’s. Coach Harrison will run the teen practices and has a whole progressive racing program planned for the five teen nights throughout the season. He even has an incentive for those who complete all five!

Your teens should be part of a 13/14 or 15-18 Group Me where they RSVP for these nights. Please double check that they are getting these messages (and let us know if not!)

Family T-shirts and Yard Signs

If you ordered Mustang shirts and/or yard signs for your family, they are in! We will have them at practice with us, so feel free to stop by or send your swimmer to ask. (Look for Heidi or Lindsay!)

SwimTopia App

If you want instant access to heat sheets, swimmer times etc. as soon as they are ready, download the SwimTopia App. There is a free version with basic information and a Pro version for just a couple of bucks per month (you only need it through July) that gives you heat sheets, results, even gives you time estimates on when your kids will swim. We highly recommend it. It’s available in the App store.

We can't wait to see you at the pool on Wednesday! You are going to be amazed at how awesome these kids are. As always, reach out with any questions!
