2025 Volunteer Info
Swimming requires LOTS of parent volunteers! In 2025, we will host three (3) home meets that require over 55 volunteers at each meet. We will have two (2) away meets that require 35 volunteers from Mills Farm at each meet. Additionally, we need many volunteers at the championship meet. DO NOT JOIN A SWIM TEAM IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO VOLUNTEER. (It's not all bad...we do have fun!)
2025 VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:
Each family must earn SIX (6) volunteer credits. Credits can be earned at all swim meets. There are many needs for volunteers at our home and away meets. Some of the jobs are more difficult than others. Our system gives more weight to the more time-consuming volunteer jobs. Therefore. some jobs are worth two credits, others only one. You decide how you get your six.
Sign up for your jobs through our website. We will send out a note when jobs are released. There are enough jobs for everyone to complete their requirements during the season, but if your schedule is such that you need to complete your shifts at certain meets, you will need to sign-up quickly.
If you cannot make the shift you signed up for, you will need to find and send a replacement. We cannot find a replacement for you.
Most positions require a minimum age of 18. There may be a few positions that can be filled by younger teenagers.
Families who do not complete their volunteer requirements or do not show up for a shift or send a replacement:
- Child will not be allowed to swim at the championship meet
- Family will not be allowed to register for future swim seasons
Please remember there is a wait list of families who would like to be on the swim team and happy to complete their volunteer requirements. If you anticipate this being an issue, consider your participation carefully.
Families can "buyout" their volunteer hours for the season for $575. This will exempt you from all volunteer requirements for this season. (We use the buyout money to hire local college students to fulfill your hours.) The buyout must be paid for by May 1, 2025.
Our volunteer coordinators will keep track of your volunteer credits. You can email them at any time to find out how many credits you still need to fulfill.
