Championships - ALL swimmers attend July 11&12

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR ALL SWIMMERS AND FAMILIES: It is very important to register during your assigned dates. If your registration is late, your swimmer will move to the bottom of the waitlist below all swimmers who have registered to date.

We do ask that you look at your summer schedule before registering for a spot on the team. Since there is often a waitlist of kids, we ask that you are able to attend most practices and meets before registering for a spot on the team. We do understand that kids will have some camps and/or vacation time, but hope you can attend at least 4 meets and 3-4 practices per week.

Registration for Returning Resident Families: Feb. 24-25

Returning resident swimmers are guaranteed a spot on the team if they register Feb. 24-25. Any registrations after Feb.25 will be processed on a space available basis and cannot be guaranteed a spot. Returning resident families may also register new sibling swimmers on these dates. While we cannot guarantee openings for siblings, returning resident siblings will be given priority over other new swimmers. (Please note, families must be Mills Farm residents as of June 1, 2025 to register in this group.)

Registration for New Resident Swimmers: Feb. 26-27

New resident swimmers will register on Feb. 26-27 and will receive priority over returning legacy non-residents during this time. Registration for new resident swimmers will be first-come, first-served. Registration is subject to space available on the team; some age groups fill very quickly. We cannot guarantee a spot for all new resident swimmers. Age group caps are based on how many kiddos we can safely accommodate in the pool during practices, as well as pool and league restrictions. We take as many swimmers as we possibly can on the team – we are one of the largest teams in the league – but do have to abide by safety restrictions and league rules.

For the 2025 season, we will have openings in all age groups, but openings in some age groups are more limited. In the 6-8 age group, we will allow six-year-olds to register, but will give priority to seven and eight-year-olds. Six-year-olds who have finished first grade will be treated as seven-year-olds for purposes of registration priority, so that they may swim with their peers. If space is available, remaining six-year-olds will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All ages are as of June 1, 2025. (Please note, families must be Mills Farm residents as of June 1, 2025 to register in this group.)

New swimmers must demonstrate they can meet minimum time requirements at a swim assessment in the spring. More details on this below.

Registration for Returning Non-Resident Swimmers: Feb. 28-March 1

Registration for returning non-resident swimmers is subject to space available on the team; some age groups may not have openings. All returning non-resident swimmers will be placed on a waitlist when registering. Don’t panic! We will pull swimmers off the waitlist in order of seniority/longevity with the team after we have processed all resident registrations. We should be able to give you a status by late March, with an understanding that more openings may arise after assessments in April. Any registrations that happen after March 1, will go to the bottom of the waitlist regardless of seniority/longevity on the team.

We will no longer accept any new non-resident siblings on the team.Non-residents will be assessed a $100 fee per family which will be passed through to the Mills Farm HOA for use of pool facilities during practices and meets.

Minimum Time Requirements

The Mustangs are a swim team – not swim lessons. To ensure safety in the water with our large numbers, all members must be able to meet the basic time requirements below for BOTH freestyle and backstroke. New members of the team are required to demonstrate they can meet these times at an assessment in the spring. If they cannot meet the minimum times, we encourage swimmers to keep taking lessons until they are ready to be on the team.

Many of our swimmers take lessons or join one of the following programs during the winter/spring to help them prepare:

City of Olathe Lightning (COOL) – Pre-Comp program

Jewish Community Center – Pre-Compete or Swim Team Conditioning

Blue Valley Rec – Swim Team Conditioning

KC Blazers – Pre-Blazers

Finally, we do always allow coaches’ kids on the team -- resident or non-resident -- provided they are of age and can make the assessment times. We do this because good coaching is so important. We add coaches’ kids in addition to age group caps so that they are not taking a spot from a resident swimmer.

Registration Fees:

Registration Fee for 1st Swimmer $225
Registration Fee for Additional Swimmer(s) $175

$100 - Non-Resident Family Fee $100
$575 - Volunteer Opt-Out Fee $575
