REMINDER: Assessments and Suit Fittings TONIGHT!
March 24th
Returning Swimmers
Come get fitted for your team suit tonight! Swim Quik is on site tonight to help. You can order directly through them tonight or from their website.
New Swimmers:
Tonight is our first assessment! A couple things to note:
- You can come anytime in the 6:30-8pm window. Bring a suit, goggles and towel.
- Swimmers can try as many times as they like; if they don't make it today, then can try again in April. Assessment times here.
- Swimmers can start in the water, dive/jump off the side or off the blocks. Most new swimmers don't know how to dive yet...no big deal!
- The BVSW pool can be a little intimidating. Even though it's the same length as the Mills Farm pool, it just looks bigger with the diving boards, deep end etc.
- If you're swimmer is nervous about the assessment, sometimes it helps to just call tonight a "practice" run. No pressure, just getting a feel for the pool. We recommend you grab a stopwatch from us and time your kiddo just to see where they're at, but they won't feel pressured with us watching/timing them. Best case scenario, they make the times (just come show us your watch) and are thrilled their "practice" qualified them for the team! Worst case, they worked out some nerves and you get a good idea of where they're at. Sometimes this helps make the decision between Ponies and the team a little easier -- you can gauge if they might be ready by the April assessment.
- Many of our coaches will be there tonight and can help with little technique things if the kids are really close to making their times!
- Go ahead and get fitted for your team suit so you know what size to order if/when your kiddo(s) pass the assessment
Here's one of my favorite pics of our 8&U swimmers "diving". They're the best!
Can't wait to see you tonight! If you need anything, look for someone in ORANGE!
